Moscow, like many ancient cities, has a concentric structure. The centre – is 128 blocks within the Boulevard ring: nine kilometres of a chain of 10 boulevards (Gogolevsky, Nikitsky, Tverskoy (the longest – 857 m), Passionate, Petrovsky, Rozhdestvensky, Sretensky, Chistoprudny, Pokrovsky, Yauzsky), open on the South by the bend of the Moskva river. Boulevards appeared in place of the walls demolished in the late eighteenth century "White town" - protective fortifications, the limits of which Moscow, by that time, just outgrew. They are separated by a space naturally formed in place of the former fortress gates. These names and stuck to them (Prechistenskaya, Ilyinsky, Pokrovsky gates).

Attractions
